IV. Installation and Debugging

1. Installation requirements

Note: Read this manual carefully, master the basic requirements and make clear about the precautions before installation.

1.1 The rectifier cabinet shall be installed indoors with dry floor meeting the environment requirements and arranged reasonably for easy access.

1.2 Pay attention to the following after unpacking and before installation of the device:

a. Do not keep outdoors after unpacking.

a. Check whether the fragile parts and components in the cabinet are damaged during transportation. Check whether the fasteners, welding spots and contacts at the connections are loose during transportation.

b. Check whether the spring bearer plate of each complete is deformed consistently and adjust in case of significantly different.。

c. Check whether the water pipes are kinked, bent and fall off.

1.3 Check the insulation resistance between the major loop, subsidiary loop and the cabinet shell with a 1000V tramegger before electrical installation. When the relative humidity is not greater than 85% (below the temperature 20℃), the insulation resistance of the major loop to the cabinet shell shall be no less than 4MΩ (protect the elements in the test and short circuit the thyristor cathode and anode with both ends of the capacitor).

1.4 Make electrical connection of each part according to the electrical schematic diagram.

1.5 The main water collecting pipe is made of stainless steel.

When installing the rectifier cabinet, the user shall connect a section of insulating hose with the water collecting pipe, with the length of no less than 1.5m. Stainless steel or rubber tube is selected as the water pipe between the rectifier cabinet and the cooler. A valve and flowmeter shall be provided for each single cabinet to control and regulate the water flow.

1.6 The cabinet door can be opened in the front and back and the maintenance channel shall be reserved at the front and back of the cabinet.

2. Debugging

The product has been debugged before delivery. To prevent other problems during transportation and storage, the product shall be checked and debugged item by item before normal commissioning.

Read this manual carefully, master the operation points and make clear about the precautions before debugging.

2.1 Check the easily damaged parts (including element, meter, relay, indicator light and standard parts).

  (1) Check whether the fasteners at each connection are loose or fall off and whether the water pipes are kinked, bent and fall off.

(2) Check the insulation resistance of the main circuit and control circuit (the two poles of the elements and capacitor shall be short-circuited, all plug-ins shall be pulled out, all 

external wires of the control panel shall be disconnected and no water is allowed in the pipes before the test).

2.2 Auxiliary circuit debugging

After installation and inspection, power on the auxiliary circuit, check and measure whether the supply voltage at each part meets the requirements and whether the whole circuit is connected.

2.3 Connect the signal circuit power supply on the control cabinet panel and check whether the signal lights in the control cabinet and rectifier cabinet are on normally and whether the sound is normal.

2.4 Cooling water system installation, inspection and hydraulic pressure adjustment:

The device is water-cooled by a cooler with enclosed circulation. The best cooling water is soft water. The water capacity of the head water tank, as the supplement to the cooling water, shall be greater than 2/3 of the indication of the liquid level meter. Before equipment operation, the water temperature for cooler operation and normal operation shall be controlled within 30℃.

The cooling water sent to the rectifier cabinet is required to be deionized water and the water quality shall meet the requirements in GB/T8740-1998:

a. Hardness: German degree 6~8;

b. PH: 6~9;

c. Hydraulic pressure: no less than 0.05Mpa and no greater than 0.2Mpa;

d. Specific resistance: 36V~200V   ≥50×103Ωcm

200V~630V  ≥100×103Ωcm

630V~1000V ≥1000×103Ωcm

b.PH: 6~9;

200V~630V  ≥100×103Ωcm

630V~1000V ≥1000×103Ωcm

e. Insoluble precipitates do not exceed 0.03mg/L;

f. Water volume: The heat generated from the loss power of the rectifier cabinet is mainly taken away by cooling water. The temperature difference of the circulating water at the inlet and outlet shall not exceed 6℃ and of the cooling water (auxiliary water) at the inlet and outlet shall not exceed 4℃ with the water volume of 20m3/h.

g. Set the upper limit of the water pressure gauge to 0.25Mpa and lower limit to 0.05Mpa. Deliver water to the rectifier cabinet through a pure water cooler, block the water outlet of the rectifier cabinet to make the water pressure rise to about 0.25MPa for 30min and observe whether the system is leaky. Then adjust the water pressure to below the lower limit value. The signal circuit shall give an alarm reliably.

h. Water temperature gauge setting: check whether the temperature indication of the water temperature gauge in the rectifier cabinet is consistent with the actual water temperature and then adjust the upper limit pointer of the water temperature gauge to make the actual water temperature coincide with the temperature pointer. At this time, the signal circuit shall act with sound and light alarm. Then regulate the upper limit of the water temperature gauge back to +40℃.

2.5 Component failure test:

Artificially short circuit the microswitch in the fast fuse. The corresponding sound and light signal alarm shall be given and the digital detector will display its specific position.

2.6 Busbar overheating:

The temperature relay installed in the component busbar is heated by appropriate heat source (such as hot water) to 60~70℃. When the temperature exceeds the range (60℃), the relay acts with sound and light alarm.

2.7 Overcurrent detection:

     When the DC load or overload exceeds the setting value, the control unit issues an overcurrent signal for PLC treatment and gives sound and light alarm. PLC conducts load reduction operation.

2.8 Control circuit debugging

    ① Make related simulation test according to the circuit diagram.

② Debug the trigger circuit and set related value according to the circuit diagram and control panel diagram.

2.9 System debugging (applicable to thyristor rectifier system KHS series)

Connect the cooling water and start the pure water cooling device after debugging the auxiliary 

circuit and the control circuit. Rinse thoroughly the dirt in the watercourse for circulating. Pressurize and exhaust the air to prohibit residual gas in the pipe, then adjust the actual water pressure to about 0.2MPa, make smooth circulation and power on the main circuit for the following debugging.                                                                  

A. Phasing

Phasing is to determine the phase synchronization relationship between the main circuit AC voltage and the trigger pulse. Connect the secondary side of the transformer and the AC incoming line terminal of the rectifier cabinet with appropriate fuse (about 10A) (the valve side busbar between the transformer and rectifier is required not to be connected temporarily before) to switch on the high-voltage switch and deliver power to the main circuit, and observe and adjust the phase relation between the trigger pulse and the main circuit voltage

 with oscilloscope for complete synchronization and compliance with the requirements of the operating conditions.

B. Light-load test

Conduct light-load test after determination of the phase relation and disconnect the actual load before delivery of power.

About 10A current of the resistance or resistance furnace can be passed when A DC voltage at the DC side reaches the rated value.

Cancel the current feedback signal on the control panel to make the regulating system open-looped, switch on the high-voltage switch to deliver power to the main circuit at "manual" status, and observe with oscilloscope that the DC output waveform shall comply with the DC voltage waveform of the rectifying circuit. Adjust the voltage set value and the

 output DC voltage can smoothly change between 0 and Udio without other exception. Take off the fuse wire between the transformer and the rectifier cabinet after the light-load test to install the AC busbar between them for other tests.

C. Verification of DC transformer and overcurrent detection circuit

Verify and check the DC measuring device before putting equipment in service.Check the connection correctness and reliability of the whole current measurement circuit carefully

first by applying an equivalent DC current signal of no less than 0.8IdN to the measuring device and requiring its secondary output current signal to meet the transformer transformation ratio requirements. Check whether the current demand and current

 feedback signal polarity are correct.

Check whether the DC current transformer can act reliably in the overcurrent detection link when checking the transformer. The operating current value of the relay is set by overload multiples.

D. Load test

Conduct load test after verification of the light-load test and the current transformer. Connect the current feedback signal before delivery of power to the main circuit to make the regulating system at automatic closed-loop control status, and check whether the regulator on the control panel and the pulse blocking function are normal and reliable.

E. Uniform current test

     Short circuit the DC output end, connect the cooling water, move the pulse to α=90° electric angle (for ID=0), connect the main circuit for delivery of power and adjust the current to the rated value. Measure the uniform current by the method for measuring millivolt voltage drop at both ends of the fast fuse in each branch and obtain the current sharing coefficient K2=ΣIn/(nImax)=ΣUn/(nUm).

Normal operation of the device is generally closed-loop operation with automatic steady current. The current oscillation, if any, can be eliminated through adjustment of W5 on the control panel.
